Lion One Metals is gathering multiple pierce points on the new high-grade lode to more precisely determine its orientation.

Lion One Metals Ltd. (LIO:TSX.V; LOMLF:OTCQX) encountered its best intercept yet with the latest drilling at its Tuvatu project on Fiji, it announced in a news release.

The company reported that the intercept, which was hit in daughter wedge hole TUDDH500w1, is 3.3 meters (3.3m) of 85.7 grams per ton gold (85.7 g/t Au). It includes two narrower intervals of 0.3m of 305 g/t Au and 0.6m of 255 g/t Au. The high-grade mineralization shows characteristics that are typical of feeder-style mineralization in alkaline gold systems. The British Columbia-based explorer drilled the hole to a depth of 709m.

Now, the company is drilling a second daughter wedge hole, TUDDH500w2, from mother hole TUDDH500 to continue testing the newly discovered high-grade zone under the Tuvatu lode system.

"The current wedge hole program is designed to gather multiple pierce points on the new high-grade lode to more precisely determine its orientation," the release noted.

Drilling so far suggests that the newly discovered high-grade structure trends east to northeast and dips steeply. Thus it is situated at almost 90-degree angles to the main Tuvatu lode structures, which run north to northeast.

"Although we need data from our second wedge hole to better assess its precise orientation, it appears to trend in a similar orientation to the Murau lodes comprising the West Tuvatu lode system situated immediately to the west," Dr. Quintin Hennigh, technical adviser to Lion One, said in the release. "If so, then this important structure may actually be the root of that system, too."
