HighGold Mining reports results of the first two holes of a 15,000 meter drill program at the flagship Johnson Tract Project.

HighGold Mining Inc. (HIGH:TSX.V; HGGOF:OTCQX) intersected wide intervals of high-grade mineralization in the first two drill holes of its 2020 program at its flagship Johnson Tract project in southcentral Alaska, it announced in a news release.

Both holes, for which the company now reports results, tested the lower and northeast portions of the deposit.

The Vancouver-based explorer stated it drilled hole JT20-092 in an area below the final hole of the 2019 season, JT19-90, to better delineate the downdip extent of the deposit and confirm that a subzone of very high-grade gold exists there. JT20-092 encountered 74.1 meters (74.1m) of 17.89 grams per ton (17.89 g/t) gold, 7.1 g/t silver, 0.48% copper, 7.28% zinc and 1.31% lead. The grade of the gold in this intersection is 79% higher than that hit in JT19-90.

Hole JT20-093 intersected strong base metal grades along the open northeast edge of Johnson Tract, including 43.5m of 1.98% copper, 8.45% zinc and 1.35 g/t gold. Results expanded the width and updip extent of the mineralized zone in the tested area.

"These intersections continue to confirm and expand the mineralized zone and, more importantly, include higher-grade mineralization than the closest neighboring drill holes," President and CEO Darwin Green said in the release. The findings also suggest that the lower part of the deposit, which boasts the greatest thickness and grade, remains open.

HighGold is now systematically testing this area, using one drill rig, for potential resource expansion. With the other two rigs, it continues to drill the surrounding targets, including NE Offset, which is of high priority.

So far this season, the exploration firm drilled eight holes at the Johnson Tract expansion targets, four drill holes at the NE Offset target and three drill holes at the North Trend target. Results are pending for all but the first two.
